Foundation Holds Event
at the Childhood Home of
Mary Kay Ash
The Houston childhood home of Mary Kay Ash provided an historic backdrop for a multifaceted event on Jan. 23, 2008. Standing on the porch of the beautifully restored home, Anne Crews, vice president of government relations, presented a $20,000 donation from the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation to the Houston Area Women’s Center. The donation will help the Houston Area Women’s Center in its work to prevent domestic violence.
At the same event, the Mayor Pro Tem of Houston declared it Mary Kay Day and presented the Company with the key to the city. As a gesture of gratitude to Houston for hosting the Company’s annual Leadership Conference, Mary Kay Inc. made a $20,000 donation to the Old Sixth Ward Neighborhood Association – the historic area where the Mary Kay Ash childhood home is located. The Old Sixth Ward is the oldest intact neighborhood in Houston and the first to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The donation is the largest in the Association’s history. |
