On a picture-perfect “take-me-out-to-the-ball-game” night, the Frisco RoughRiders went to bat for the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation at the second annual “Paint the Park Pink”, held at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas, on May 3, 2008. Fans, proudly dressed in pink T-shirts and baseball caps, stepped up to the plate and raised $10,000 for the Foundation. Each game ticket sold brought in $5 to support Foundation programs.

Displaying their own pink power, the 'Riders, sporting limited-edition pink jerseys, defeated the Midland RockHounds by a score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Players' game-worn, autographed jerseys were auctioned for the Foundation.

"The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation has a rich history of making a difference in the lives of others," says President of Mary Kay U.S. Darrell Overcash. "We're so grateful to the RoughRiders for giving us an opportunity to partner in fun and unique ways to further the Foundation's mission of finding a cure for cancers affecting women and bringing an end to domestic violence. And the partnership seems to be working for the RoughRiders too. They are now 2-0 wearing their pink jerseys!"

"We're all excited about participating in this because it's for such great causes," says Mike Ballard, RoughRiders' pitcher. "As for wearing pink shirts — well, they're a cool color!"

The pink festivities included pink Cadillacs lining the perimeter of the ballpark, showers of pink fireworks celebrating RoughRiders' home runs, laminated stickers showing the Foundation logo decorating the bases and an information table about the Foundation.

Independent Senior Sales Director Sandy Palisch and Independent Sales Director Barbie Pruitt, top game ticket sellers, threw the opening pitches in tandem.

"I love baseball and it was gratifying to be part of the fundraiser," says Sandy.

"It was a lot of fun being out on that beautiful baseball field," adds Barbie.

"We're thrilled we could partner with the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation for the second year in a row in order to make an impact for their causes," says President and General Manager Scott Sonju of the Frisco RoughRiders. "The team was excited they could contribute to such a cause, simply by wearing pink jerseys. We look forward to holding this event again in the future."
