A shared passion for doing good, fashion, food and sisterhood brought together nearly 300 women, many of them guests, for Project Pink: A Passion for Fashion. Sparked when Independent Senior Sales Director Margaret Wendt followed her desire to help, the elegant affair took place in the chandeliered ballroom of The Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee, Wis., in April 2008.
"I've been looking for a way to make a bigger contribution to the Foundation," says Margaret. "The mission is personal to me, as we all know lives touched by cancer or domestic violence. Mary Kay has given me a lot, and I want to make sure I give back."
Thirty local Sales Directors in the Real McCoy area and their units rallied to make the event an incredible success. Kelly Dietsch, legal advocate for Hope House of South Central Wisconsin in Baraboo, Wis., spoke to the group about how the Foundation's grant assisted the domestic violence shelter. Independent Senior Sales Director Connie Semerad-Schaefer, a cancer patient, highlighted how incredibly supportive her Mary Kay family had been.
Attendees were treated to a silent auction, an irresistible dessert bar and a boutique fashion show. Bruce Paul Goodman and A.J. Ugent Furs provided beautiful fashions ranging from classy casual to high-end couture. Through corporate donations, the silent auction and ticket sales, the fundraiser brought in more than a phenomenal $15,000!
Independent Senior National Sales Director Judie McCoy inspired the women and did a masterful job showing how much power there is in working together by reviewing the Foundation's milestone accomplishments. "There was incredible spirit in the room!" exclaims Judie. "The Sales Directors worked magnificently together, proving once again that together we have such tremendous power. Mary Kay would have been so proud."
"My heart was so full. They created a masterpiece," says Judie.
"This event was so satisfying on so many levels," adds Margaret. "The way everyone pulled together and contributed to this donation is awesome."
